Feeling Icky

I woke up feeling not so great this morning.  I should have drank a lot less alcohol and a lot more water last night! I made some eggs and a toasted Ezekial muffin with grape jelly on one half and Smart Balance on the other.  Wish some coffee.  It did NOT make me feel instantly better like I was hoping it would. 😦

After breakfast I got dressed to meet one of my best friends Christen for lunch.  She just moved into a new house and it has been a while since we have gotten to catch up.  I got her a card that I found when I was shopping for one for the bachelorette party.

We went to an adorable place I had never been to called Chatters.  One of the worst things about a hangover is that fried food sounds SO good to me.  They had some really amazing looking salads on the menu but I knew my stomach wouldn’t be very happy with that.  I ordered the Cafe Turkey with french fries.  It was a  turkey sandwich on honey wheat bread with avocado, sprouts, honey mustard, lettuce and tomato.  This sandwich was really good and the fries on the side were just what I needed.  I only ate half the sandwich but I finished all but two of the fries!

This is Christen’s excited face at her Pueblo wrap.  I was seriously contemplating ordering this but made a last minute decision to go with the turkey sandwich.  Her wrap was grilled chicken, avocado, pico de gallo, black bean hummus and a chili sauce.  I had a bite and it was very good.  With a side of fruit.  Christen didn’t have a hangover.

Lunch was fabulous and the company was even better.  I only wish I hadn’t felt so bad so I could have visited longer.  I am now hanging out on my couch and trying to rehydrate.

Busy Bee….

Happy Saturday!

Today I have a very filled day…I am meeting one of my best friends for lunch at a Japanese place called Shogun.  After that I am off to my cousins high school graduation party and then I have to leave to come back home to go to one of my best friends from high school Bachelorette party.

This morning I did one of Jillian Micheals circuit videos.  The No More Trouble Zones video that is an hour long.  This workout does not play around.  After I finished I made some breakfast.  This was a little lighter than I normally have especially for a  Saturday, but I knew the rest of the day was going to be filled with food!

1 whole egg, 2 egg whites, turkey sausage, and watermelon.  With a coffee and steamed milk.  Still no sweetener!  After breakfast I went to get a mani/pedi at this amazing place that also massages your shoulders all for only $25!  It felt great!  Then I was off to meet Will for lunch at Shogun.

I ordered a California roll topped with fresh salmon and avocado.  So fresh and light.

Will ordered the sirloin grill and I had several bites of the veggies and fried rice.  Covered in the ginger dressing.  yum!

After we finished lunch I headed straight to my cousins graduation party.  Here are my nieces… Natalie the oldest and Halie.  They LOVE fruits and veggies.   This makes me very happy!  Natalie even likes california rolls.  It is so great that they will try ANYTHING and naturally gravitate toward healthier food.

The little one ALWAYS has food on her face….at least when I decide to take pictures!

My dad made sausage, brisket, and ribs.  I grew going to cook-offs and my parents and grandparents always do well in them.  I used to LOVE to eat ribs, especially right off the grill.  I had a bite of each but didn’t really feell like having much more than that.

I did however have a bowl of this pasta.  I would have liked to eat a lot more of this but I was really full.

I was sad to have to leave early and I always have a hard time leaving my family.  I left an hour later than I had planned and had about 20 minutes to shower and get dressed for my friend Denise’s bachelorette party.

Here I am with the bride to be!  Denise and I were best friends when I was a freshman and sophomore in High school.  I had forgotten how much fun I have when I am with her and it was so great to see her and share in her celebration.

We met at a mexican place called El Patio.  I had a few chips and salsa and a bite of one of the nachos below.  I didn’t take very many pictures of the food because I didn’t really eat much of it.

We took a trolley around town and went to a really fun place with 80’s music (my favorite!)

The ladies were making vodka cranberries on the trolley and I had 3 of these.  I’m not going to lie I’m feeling pretty icky today.  I forgot how bad it makes me feel when I have that many drinks.  I also had 2 shots in the bars and a vodka soda. 😦

I am proud to say there was no late night eating!  We all had a blast.

Jello Shots after Yoga?

Tonight I went to a new class that is offering on Friday nights…I think it may be only every other Friday night but anyway, the class is a hot yoga class that lasts for 90 minutes and they play “house” music.  Also, afterward there are jello-shots for the class to enjoy.  I for one was focusing on keeping my nausea under control so that wasn’t an option for me.  I guess it could be a good way for people to socialize on a Friday night?

Anyway, it has been a REALLY long time since I went to a hot yoga class and I forgot how challenging they are.  About thirty minutes in I was ready to get out of there!  But I made it to the end and was quite proud of myself even though I sat through a lot of it on my mat. I love how I feel after a class though.  I got a 5-pack of classes for my birthday so I will definitely be going back.

When I got out of class I really wanted to go to Swirl which has the best frozen yogurt but I stayed strong and came home and made some lentil soup.  I topped it with Fage 0% Greek yogurt and of course Sriracha hot sauce and chopped onion.

With a side salad:

  • spring mix lettuce
  • Salsa
  • Feta cheese

For dessert I had a decaf coconut coffee topped with frothed milk from my new frother!

It almost doubles the milk!

and I had a sugar-free Jell0 Dulce de Leche pudding cup.  I’m sure this isn’t the “smartest” snack…but I’m not going to lie it is like a creamy Werthers original….so good. And it IS Friday 😉

And yes that is a baby spoon.  I like to eat my pudding…yogurt…and anything else “creamy” with baby spoons.  I’m convinced it tastes better because I can taste the metal in regular spoons.

I’m off to work on the baby blanket for my new nephew who will be here Thursday!!!!

Happy Friday!

The weather outside is amazing right now!  Too bad it is scorching outside!  I am a HUGE breakfast person…I could eat “breakfast” foods for every meal.  I have such a hard time picking what I want to eat and most of the time come home with all breakfast foods.

THIS morning I had a cereal mixture.  I mixed Kashi Autumn Harvest, Kashi GoLean, and some low-fat strawberry granola with 1/2 a banana. Delicious!

And of course some coffee with skim milk and cinnamon.  I’m trying to cut back on artificial sweeteners and this was really not bad!

Lunch was a different take on a wrap:

This wrap was….

  • flat out multigran-flax wrap
  • spread of roasted red pepper hummus
  • slicked turkey (3 thin slices)
  • spring mix lettuce
  • 1 laughing cow swiss-light cheese
  • 1/4 mashed avocado
  • pepper and Sriracha hot sauce

I really liked this combination but thought afterwards it would have been really good with jalapeno.  I REALLY like spicy food!

To go with it I had a yogurt and some green tea.  I grew up eating these yogurts but since I have been eating the Greek yogurts these just aren’t the same. 😦

About 2 1/2 hours after I ate this I was feeling hungry again.  AND I found a 1/2 of a Kashi Oatmeal Walnut bar in my lunch bag…its a bit questionable how long that was in there I’m not going to lie but it looked fine and tasted fine as well!

I just got home from work and am working on my blog and checking emails.  I’m planning on going to Hot Yoga at 6:15 tonight and I knew I needed to eat something before I go so I snacked on some Kashi Honey crackers with a spoon of almond butter and some granola.

This is a little embarrassing but I literally gasped when this fell open.  I could smell how good it was going to be before I even saw it’s color!  I immediately took a picture and sent it to my friends! haha…really the last one I got was a pale pink and not nearly as good.  I of course had a few slices of this and am going to cut it to eat on next week!

I’m off to get ready for hot yoga….not sure yet what I’m going to be making for dinner but I’ll be thinking!

I couldn’t be happier with my meals today!  Today in general was a really good day….I sold a display of Barefoot in one of my stores…which by the way if you are looking for a good wine at a really great price Barefoot is an excellent choice for summer.  A lot of my stores are running it 2/$9!!!   The weather outside is amazing right now.

Anyway, for breakfast I had a meal inspired by Jenna at I toasted two Vans waffles and then topped each with:

1 tbs. 0% Greek Yogurt mixed with

cinnamon, flax, and vanilla

1/2 banana

3 strawberries

and two pats of almond butter

AMAZING…and this meal is very filling…I do a lot of running around in the mornings so it is nice to have a go to meal that keeps me full until I can get to lunch.

On the side I had HEB brand Houston Blend coffee that has bits of real coconut in it.  I usually save it for the weekend but I got a new “frother” that I have been looking for for months and I couldn’t resist trying it out! (also I was ready about 30 minutes before I had to leave this morning so I thought why not?!?)

For lunch I had a salad that I made last night….

Okay this salad had a plethora of ingredients… just like I like it 😉

  • Spring Mix
  • strawberries
  • fat free feta cheese
  • 1/2 granny smith apple
  • leftover 1/2 grilled chicken
  • 3 walnut halves
  • 1 tbs. dried cranberries

Topped with Fat free raspberry walnut dressing… about 2 tbs.

Here is what it looked like after I put the lid on it and shook it all up.  I like to do this because you can use a lot less dressing and you get a little taste of it on the whole salad.  I actually like it a lot better than having the dressing on the side and dipping it in and I use less this way.  Not to mention it is a lot easier when you’re eating in your car!

Around 3:30 today I was feeling hungry and I snacked on about 12 fresh cherries and a cheese stick.

And I snacked on some raw cashews as well…

I’m always REALLY hungry when I get home from work…I’m not sure if it is because I’m walking a lot in my stores or if  it is because my lunches are too small.  I’m always full when I get done eating but I’m always hungry for something larger than a “small” snack around 4 or so….

Does this happen to any of you?  Any suggestions?

I’m off to do a circuit workout, I have dinner plans with my friend Lindsay.  She is a riot and it has been forever since we have gotten to catch up.  I believe the plan is sushi!  I could eat this everyday.  I can’t wait to share. 🙂

Dinner with Lindsay was fabulous!  I’m sad to report that I didn’t get any pictures of her but I’m sure there will be plenty of other opportunities!

We went to a place called RA that has a really good happy hour!  Everything we got was under $35

To start we each had a Miso soup and shared some edamame.

I had four pieces of fresh salmon sushi,  I cut this into pieces and took it off the rice and laid it on top of the california roll I ordered:

We also ordered a Viva Las Vegas roll that is ……um…tempura fried with cream cheese and topped with crab mix…it is sooooo good and very hard to pass up for 1/2 off!

Lindsay ordered a spicy yellowtail roll and we split everything nearly in half. I also ordered a glass of LaTerre Chardonnay.  Everything was really good and the company was AMAZING!  Very good night for sure. 🙂

I was REALLY full when we left dinner. Of course, when I got ready to go to bed a was a little bit hungry but I didn’t end up snacking I was so tired.

Happy Hump Day!

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Almost through this week….

This morning I had 1/2 of an Ezekial english muffin topped with a poached egg, a Morning Star soysauge pattie and drizzle of Sriracha hot sauce.  I am obsessed with these muffins.  They are good topped with almost everything I have tried!

I was wanting something sweet so I also had 3 fresh strawberries 🙂

I made my lunch last night before I went to bed….

Being on the road all day doing wine sales it helps if I plan my meals ahead and have them ready when I get up in the morning.  When I first started working I thought because I was walking around so much I could eat more (and by more I mean out) and of course that was not the case.

Lunch was a delicious wrap, some fresh cherries and a blueberry yogurt.  With green tea which I drink 1-2 glasses of a day.

The wrap included:

1 Flatout multigrain wrap

1/4 avocado

1 Laughing Cow light swiss cheese

1/3 sliced cucumber

sliced red onion

spread honey mustard

spring mix

sliced mesquite turkey

hot sauce

Wednesdays I run around a lot for work and I’m in and out of a lot of grocery stores pushing carts full of wine around so I usually get hungry for a snack in the afternoon.

I had half of this Kashi Oatmeal Walnut bar for a mid-morning snack and the other half this afternoon with the rest of the cherries for lunch before my workout:

About thirty minutes before I left for the gym I snacked on some Kashi Honey crackers (one of my all time favorites) I had about 6.

I did 30 minutes on the elliptical today.  Usually I do an interval or change the resistance and incline but today I tried steady cardio and stayed at a 12 incline and a resistance level of 4 for the entire time.  I was surprised how quickly it went by. I generally stick to interval when I do cardio to keep my attention.

Tonight I decided to turn on the grill….it is so easy to put everything out there and not have to worry with a ton of dishes when I’m done.  I grilled chicken and corn straight on the grill and put some sweet onion, and squash in foil drizzled with olive oil.

The chicken I seasoned with lemon pepper, and cayenne and a spray of olive oil.  The corn I ate plain…just the grill flavor. I also left the onion unseasoned.

I only finished half of the chicken and I’m going to use it for lunch tomorrow.

I have a serious cereal addiction and while blogging I ate a small bowl of strawberry chex cereal. So far posting what I’m eating has been a huge help in seeing the “mindless” eating that I do.  I’m actually a little too full right now and I think if I had waited a bit or had some hot tea I wouldn’t have felt the need for the cereal.  I guess you live and learn right?!?

I’m planning to do some light yoga before getting ready for bed!  I’m off to fix my lunch for tomorrow….

No choices

As I said earlier I had a general sales meeting/volleyball playing day with my company.  They were serving James Coney Island which I was unaware of.  All day long I was thinking that (of course) we would be having some kind of sandwiches or at the very least options to choose from.  Being new to this I forgot my camera….I know on the first day!….but I had half of a hot dog and a small bag of Original Sunchips.  Needless to say I was very hungry when I got home and snacked on a small bowl of Strawberry Chex cereal with 1% Organic Milk.

My friends were going to dinner at a really good mexican food place and after much struggling I decided to stay home and make use of my groceries and leftovers.  So I made a salad:

This salad was:

Baby spring mix

Leftover Ribeye steak which I cut into about 6 bite sized pieces

Red onion

1 tbs Fage 0% Greek yogurt

sprinkle of lowfat organic 2% shredded colby cheese

I used a new Bountifuls Simply Santa Fe dressing that was only 20 cal per serving!

and I sprinkled it with cracked pepper and Sriracha hot sauce.

I am working on a blanket for my baby nephew that I will share when it is finished!  I am off to work on that now and then head for bed. 🙂
